Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Backgammon Lounge (the “App”), developed by Teddy App Labs (“we”, “us”), handles information when you use the App on Apple Vision Pro.
Information we do not collect
The App does not ask for or collect:
- Your name, email address, phone number, or any account registration
- Your location
- Your contacts, photos, or files
- Advertising identifiers, and we show no advertising
- Anything that identifies you personally in analytics — usage statistics are tied to a random, app-specific identifier only
Purchases (App Store & RevenueCat)
Full game access is available through an auto-renewable weekly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase. Optional board themes and equipment sets are separate one-time purchases. Apple processes every payment through its App Store in-app purchase system; we never see your payment details.
To validate purchases and remember what you own, the App uses RevenueCat, a purchase infrastructure provider. RevenueCat processes, on our behalf:
- A randomly generated, pseudonymous app user identifier (not tied to your name or Apple ID)
- Purchase and transaction information from the App Store receipt, including subscription, trial, renewal, expiration, cancellation, and refund status
- Basic device and connection metadata such as device model, locale, app version, and IP address
This data is used solely to determine current access, deliver and restore purchases, and understand aggregate purchase performance. It is not used for advertising and is not sold.
Achievement and statistics sync (Cloudflare)
When you sign in to Game Center, the App asks Apple for a short-lived identity
verification signature. Our account service verifies that signature and uses your
Game Center teamPlayerID to create a stable, pseudonymous account ID.
We do not receive your Apple ID credentials, email address, real name, Game Center
nickname, or avatar. If you do not sign in, progress remains only on your device.
The account service runs on Cloudflare and stores the following data to provide cross-device sync:
- Your Game Center team-scoped player identifier and its hashed account ID
- A random App installation identifier used to merge roll and move counters safely
- Achievement progress and unlock times
- Completed-game records, including mode, rules, win or loss, result type, points, end reason, and completion time
- Derived lifetime statistics such as wins, losses, win rate, streaks, points, and mode and rules breakdowns
- Standard connection metadata processed when requests reach Cloudflare, such as IP address, request time, and security logs
Records use stable event IDs so the same game cannot be counted twice. Current game modes use client-authored dice, so synced records are explicitly stored as unranked and unverified; the sync service does not turn them into competitive leaderboard authority. Authentication tokens are stored only in memory by the App and expire. Gameplay never waits for Cloudflare: failed requests remain queued locally and retry later.
Game Center (online multiplayer)
Online matchmaking and turn-based matches are provided by Apple’s Game Center. If you choose to play online:
- Apple handles matchmaking and your Game Center identity. Your Game Center nickname and avatar may be visible to opponents, as controlled by your Game Center settings.
- Current online and SharePlay game modes are unranked. The App does not submit their results to a leaderboard.
- During a match, game moves and dice rolls are exchanged with your opponent through Apple’s Game Center services.
Game Center is governed by Apple’s Game Center privacy disclosure. You can play the App entirely offline without signing in to Game Center.
SharePlay (play with friends)
Playing with friends at a shared table uses Apple’s SharePlay over FaceTime. The FaceTime call — audio, video, and Spatial Personas — is handled entirely by Apple; we have no access to it. The App only synchronizes game state (moves and dice rolls) between session participants through Apple’s GroupActivities framework.
Data stored on your device
Your sound setting, selected theme and equipment set, achievement progress, lifetime statistics, pending sync events, and a random installation identifier are stored locally on your device. Game Center accounts have isolated local progress stores so changing accounts does not mix player records. The current rule choice and match score are kept only for the active app session. Deleting the App removes its local settings and SDK caches; purchases remain restorable through your Apple ID.
Analytics (PostHog)
To understand how the App is used and improve it, we use PostHog, a product analytics service. Analytics are pseudonymous: events are tied to a randomly generated, app-specific identifier, and may be grouped into a profile containing app settings and purchase-entitlement status. We do not attach your name, email, Apple ID, or Game Center identity, and we never send your Game Center nickname or player ID to PostHog.
PostHog processes, on our behalf:
- Usage events such as games started and finished, dice rolls and moves, marketplace visits, purchase outcomes (product and price — never payment details), and settings changes
- Basic device and app metadata such as device model, OS version, app version, and locale
- Your IP address, used transiently to receive the events (we do not use it to determine your precise location)
This data is used solely to understand aggregate usage and improve the App. It is not used for advertising, not shared with data brokers, and not sold.
Separately, if you have opted in to share analytics with app developers in your device settings, Apple may provide us with de-identified aggregate statistics (such as install counts and crash reports) through App Store Connect. These never identify you.
Children’s privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Online multiplayer requires a Game Center account, which is subject to Apple’s age requirements and Family Sharing controls.
Data retention and deletion
- On-device data: removed when you delete the App.
- Synced achievements and game statistics: retained while you use cross-device sync. You can permanently remove those records and their local copy with Delete Data in the App’s Achievements window. The service retains only a hashed account-deletion marker so another signed-in device cannot silently restore the deleted records. That marker is removed if you explicitly enable sync again.
- RevenueCat purchase records: retained while needed to service your purchases. You may request deletion of the pseudonymous purchase record by contacting us; note that deleting it may prevent restoring purchases on new devices.
- Game Center data: managed by Apple through your Apple ID and Game Center settings.
- Analytics events (PostHog): retained while needed to analyze aggregate usage. Because the App does not associate the pseudonymous analytics identifier with your contact details, we generally cannot locate a particular record from an email address alone. You may still contact us about an applicable privacy request, and we will explain the available options.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information. Because the App does not collect contact details, an email address alone may not identify a pseudonymous sync or analytics record. Synced achievement data can be deleted directly in the App. For any other request, contact us via the Support page and we will respond within 30 days.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the updated version on this page with a new effective date. Material changes will also be noted in the App’s release notes.
